This is one of the last pages from "The Gingerbread Man", recently completed for Benchmark Education. I used acrylics for this book, which gives the illustrations a very rich look to the color. I did get a bit washy in the background and sometimes used watercolors for the washes. What a fun time I had painting this old classic!

Here are three shots of the painting in progress. I started this while on vacation in Maine. It is watercolor on a pre-primed board. The trick is knowing when to stop...more stages coming...probably...maybe not...what do you think?
